Growth. Purpose. Community.
Does it ever feel like everyone else has a map while you’re just staring at a blank screen?
If you’re between the ages of 13 and 25, you’ve probably heard the question "What are you doing with your life?" more times than you can count. Whether you’re finishing high school, staring down a college degree you aren't sure about, or just trying to figure out how to be an adult without a manual, the pressure is real.
Maybe you feel stuck. Maybe you feel overwhelmed. Or maybe you just feel like you’re waiting for your "real life" to begin.
At Finding the Way, we don’t believe in "fixing" you because we don’t think you’re broken. We believe in providing a sanctuary: a place where you can breathe, be yourself, and figure out your next move at your own pace. Navigating life transitions isn’t about having all the answers today; it’s about taking the first step into a judgment-free zone where your journey is actually valued.
Here is your easy, five-step guide to finding your purpose and navigating those big life changes without losing your mind.
Step 1: Start with Radical Self-Honesty (No Pretense)
Before you can figure out where you’re going, you have to know where you’re standing. Most of the time, we try to find "purpose" based on what our parents, teachers, or Instagram feeds tell us we should want.
Finding your purpose starts with stripping away the "shoulds." It’s about looking at who you are when nobody is watching.
✓ Identify your core values: What actually makes you angry? What makes you excited? Your emotions are like a compass. ✓ Recognize your natural rhythm: Are you a builder? A talker? A listener? A fixer? ✓ Own your story: Even the messy parts of your past have shaped your unique perspective.
In our Youth Programs, we spend a lot of time in workshops and group sessions doing exactly this. There’s no pressure to perform. It’s just about getting honest with yourself so you can start building a life that actually feels like yours.

Step 2: Collect Experiences, Not Just Degrees
A common myth is that you find your "passion" first and then start working. In reality, it usually happens the other way around. Purpose is something you discover while you’re doing things.
If you’re feeling stagnant, the best thing you can do is change your environment. Try something new without the pressure of it having to be "the one."
Volunteer: Helping others is often the fastest way to see what you’re good at. Check out our volunteer opportunities to get involved locally.
Work Experience: Sometimes, just having a job and learning how to work in a team clears the mental fog. At our Taste & See Restaurant, we offer paid work experience for young people who want to build real skills in a supportive environment.
Join an Event: Sometimes a single conversation at a Community Event can spark an idea you never saw coming.
Step 3: Shift Your Perspective on "Spiritual Guidance"
For many of us, "spirituality" sounds heavy or complicated. But at its heart, spiritual guidance is just about finding the "why" behind the "what." It’s about exploring your journey, finding deeper meaning, and realizing that you are part of something bigger.
You don’t need to have it all figured out to start exploring your spiritual side. Whether you’re looking for a sense of peace or trying to understand your place in the universe, we offer Spiritual Guidance that is personal and moves at your own speed. It’s a safe, confidential space to ask the big questions without being judged for the answers.

Step 4: Build a Strategy for the "In-Between"
Life transitions: like moving out for the first time, starting a new job, or dealing with a loss: are essentially the "hallways" of life. They are the spaces between where you were and where you’re going. They can be lonely, but they don't have to be.
The key to navigating these transitions is having a practical strategy. This is where Transitional Support comes in. Sometimes you just need a 1:1 conversation with someone who "gets it": someone who can offer honest guidance tailored to your specific situation.
Practical Transition Tips:
Set "Micro-Goals": Don't try to plan the next five years. Plan the next five days.
Establish a Routine: When everything else is changing, having a consistent morning coffee or a weekly meet-up keeps you grounded.
Ask for Help: There is no trophy for doing it all alone. Reaching out is a skill, not a weakness.
Step 5: Find Your People (The Sanctuary Effect)
You cannot find your purpose in a vacuum. We are social creatures, and we grow best when we are surrounded by people who believe in us: even when we don’t believe in ourselves.
Finding a "home" or a "sanctuary" where you can just be is vital. That’s why we created Finding the Way. We aren’t a clinical service or a corporate program. We are a community organization that functions like a family.
Whether you’re hanging out at the restaurant or attending a workshop, you’re in a space where you are seen and heard.

Real Voices: What it’s Like Here
"I came to Finding the Way when I was 19 and totally lost. I’d dropped out of school and didn't think I had any skills. Through the transitional support sessions, I realized I wasn't 'lazy': I was just overwhelmed. Getting a chance to work at Taste & See gave me my confidence back. Now, I’m actually excited about my future for the first time." : Jordan, 21
